Day 101

Running in Saigon was something I thought I would not be doing but I had a great run this morning, making my way to Tao Dan Park and running 6 loops for 4 miles, followed by pull ups and dips on the bars.

After the run I bought an egg sandwich on french bread and a couple of rice balls from Circle K and ate my daily meal sitting on the steps of Union Square gazing at the statue of Ho Chi Minh and inhaling the heavy morning heat. After showering I walked to the Sciences Library and set up the chess board in the reading room and studied games from 1953 Zurich and tried to mentally prepare for the tension and uncertainty of tournament chess, round 1 of the HD International Chess Tournament begins tomorrow at 3:30pm.

I stopped at a luxurious shopping mall across the street from my studio and bought a few food items from Amman Market and withdrew 2 million dong to pay for my chess entry fee tomorrow.
