Arriving in Saigon I was conflicted on whether I should continue my running while in the city due to the intense traffic and the apparent lack of parks but upon researching the map I discovered a place named Tao Dan Park just 800 meters from my studio so this morning I went in search of it and it is a smaller version of Lumpini in Bangkok, exercise stations and pathways for runners and walkers. On the way back I was feeling disoriented but I kept cool and put the streets in order so I should have no problem getting there tomorrow morning for a run which I am feeling much desire for.
When I returned from my walk to Tao Dan I did further research because I am looking for a library in which to study chess during the day and my good fortune continued because one of the best libraries in the city is located 3 blocks from my studio so I walked there with my chess set and found a table in the reading room and did 3 hours of study. When I was finishing a young man approached and asked for a game and I agreed and guessed he was a serious player when I saw he was going to notate the game so I asked him for a piece of paper so that I could do the same. He opened with 1 c4 and I replied with 1...e5, and the game was interesting, a solid opening from both sides and at move 15 I felt I was losing the thread and perhaps my b pawn but I found counter play with a bishop sacrifice which was declined and that put me up a pawn and after an exchange of queens I played the ending well enough to score the win.
