Day 65

The rash on my arms woke me from my sleep and I decided to take a shower to scrub any remaining lotion off. It gave some relief to the itching and I was able to get some sleep, but the middle of the night interruption caused me to get up later than expected and so my run started a couple of hours after sunrise and the heat was hot and heavy and I decided to stop after 3 miles. A short run is fine, I need to cut back a bit after consecutive longer runs earlier this week.

Everyday I pass a tour guide named Vincent who gave me his card the first time I passed him and he is trying hard to earn my business, remembering my name and asking if this will be the day he can show me around the island. When I passed him this morning I asked if he knew of any forest running trails and he mentioned Mt Batur, but after doing some research it seems like it would be crowded with hiking tours which would make running a pain, plus the terrain would be too rocky for the type of running shoe I am using.

Yesterday on my walk back from Mertasari Beach a woman asked me if I would like a massage and when she told me her name was Rocca I recalled that in 2012 she approached me in the same place and I agreed to the massage. Seven years later she looks no worse for the wear and although I refused the massage, it is interesting that I am crossing paths with people whom I met in 2012.
