Ran 6.5 miles today on the sea path, sunrise quite muted with clouds, but that made the run easier because there was no direct sunlight to contend with. One of my toenails, along with being black (a typical condition for distance runners), has an unhealthy buildup of nail material, and it is too sore to clip it away, so I may have to lay off long runs and practice sprinting until the nail is no longer tender and then work on clipping the nail structure.
In the afternoon I washed clothes in the bathroom sink and sun dried them on a rack. Also studied four Zurich chess games and worked on tactics problems. I am starting to sharpen my chess training because I plan to participate in the 9 round HD Bank International Chess Tournament in Saigon, Vietnam. Learning and training chess is similar to learning a language, it has to be practiced everyday so that the mind can create pathways of memory and understanding.
Finished reading the Maugham short stories, now I am out of reading material so I may try to find a bookshop. There are two books which I found in my apartment, one is a political book by Michael Moore, the other a memoir of a Christian missionary who worked in Uganda.
